Hundreds of Travel Leaders Convene in D.C.
For Passage of Travel Promotion Act

On September 25, 2008, more than 300 travel industry leaders descended upon Washington, DC to secure the passage of the industry's greatest legislative victory in decades. In its third year, the Travel Leadership Summit (TLS) united advocates from 29 states to send a clear message - that travel and tourism is a vital contributor to this nation's economy. TLS delegates became a part of the inner workings of DC and at the end of the day achieved their goal - House passage of the Travel Promotion Act (H.R. 3232).

Chris Matthews, MSNBC's host of Hardball, and featured speaker at TLSFace-to-face contact between Members of Congress and their constituents is an essential part of the political process. Delegates not only met with their Members of Congress, but they also heard from the lead sponsors of the Travel Promotion Act in both the House and Senate, Rep. Bill Delahunt (D-MA) and Sen. Byron Dorgan (D-ND) respectively, as well as TV political personality Chris Matthews.
