Forecast for U.S. Travel

U.S. Travel's Forecast for U.S. Travel contains forecast estimates from U.S. Travel's proprietary travel forecasting models. U.S. Travel's forecasts are updated each May and October and include:

  • Domestic and International visitation
  • Travel price inflation
  • Travel expenditures

Annual Travel Forecast: Annual estimates of travel expenditures, travel price index and travel volume with domestic person-trips by purpose of trip.

The U.S. Travel Association travel forecast model was developed and is maintained by Tourism Economics, an Oxford Economics Company dedicated to quantitative analysis of the travel sector. The model is a quarterly frequency multi-variate econometric model based on a range of drivers including travel costs, exchange rates, corporate profits, investment, personal income, employment, consumer spending, and GDP.  Expert evaluation and adjustments are then applied based on the latest and expected developments within tourism sub-sectors.
