BRAZIL DISCOVERS AMERICA
TIA hosted a series of successful events during Discover America Week Brazil in Sao Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, October 23-29. The Media Marketplace, sponsored by Marriott, brought in more than 55 high quality consumer and trade press to meet with 25 U.S. companies. Later, at a special reception, TIA presented the Discover America Travel Writer Award to Kiko Nogueira, Editor in Chief, Viagem e Tourismo and Silvio E. G. Cioffi Editor in Chief of Folha de Sao Paulo. The Discover America Educational Seminar which was opened by John Harris, U.S. Foreign Commercial Service, had the highest turnout in the event's history with 242 travel agents in attendance. The week's activities rounded up with the first ever Discover America Pavilion at ABAV, Latin America's major travel tradeshow. More than 40 U.S. companies participated in the pavilion gaining exposure to more than 22,000 trade and media participants.

TIA PARTNERS WITH eCORNELL TO EXPAND ONLINE EDUCATION
TIA is pleased to offer its members and their employees executive courses and professional certificates through eCornell's online university. With courses authored by renowned Cornell University faculty, prominent leaders in the hospitality industry, the eCornell program offers an extensive menu of certificates able to meet a wide variety of career development needs. In addition to online courses available through the George Washington University, TIA members can also enroll in any course, combination of course or certificate program from eCornell's 18 different certificate series. NATIONAL COUNCIL FOR ATTRACTIONS ELECTS NEW LEADERSHIP
During its recent Annual Meeting in Boca Raton during the NCAP conference, the National Council for Attractions (NCA) announced its officers for 2006-2007. Christine Szalay, Director of Marketing and Tourism, NorthPark Center, Dallas will chair next year's council while Robert Graff, Vice President of Marketing/Sales, Papillon Grand Canyon Helicopters will serve as vice chair.
