DOW TESTIFIES ON WESTERN HEMISPHERE TRAVEL INITIATIVE
TIA President and CEO, Roger Dow, told the House Judiciary Subcommittee
on Immigration, Border Security and Claims that the federal government
must carefully implement security measures so that they do not strangle
legitimate commerce and travel across our borders. TIA and its strategic
partner the Travel Business Roundtable (TBR) support implementation
of the Western Hemisphere Travel Initiative but continue to have
concerns with the government's execution of the program and the
likelihood that all processes will be working effectively by the
imposed deadlines. Click

PEW
STUDY SHOWS CONTINUED DECLINE IN U.S. IMAGE
The latest survey by the Pew
Global Attitudes Project reveals that America's global image

CEO Roger Dow remarked "Pew's latest survey sends a stark message:
America's image is in crisis." TIA reiterates the need for policymakers
to embrace travel and tourism and recognize its potential to boost
the U.S. image around the globe. For

TIA MEMBERS WANT MORE NIMBLE ASSOCIATION
TIA members just completed the most significant changes to the association's
operating rules in its more than half-century history. "TIA needed
a greater ability to seize opportunities and respond quickly to
industry challenges on behalf of its members." TIA National Chair
Jay Rasulo, Chairman, Walt Disney Parks and Resorts said after declaring
the updates complete. "The changes give the TIA Board more authority
to make decisions." Rasulo said he was pleased to be at the helm
when TIA's operating documents were updated from those originally
intended to serve 30-40 members to rules that can serve thousands
well. Click
