Public Affairs - International Destination Marketing
In 2005, TIA will continue to search for the best opportunities to secure long-term, sustained funding for international destination marketing. TIA will also fight for greater investment in international travel research (In-Flight Survey). This "In-Flight Survey," the largest research program within the Department's Office of Travel and Tourism Industries, consists of a monthly survey of inbound international air travelers and generates beneficial data on visitor travel and destination trends.
Last year, TIA and the Travel Industry successfully motivate the 108th Congress to pass a $10 million spending package to further promote the U.S. as an international tourism destination. Passed on November 20, 2005, the then president and CEO of TIA, William S. Norman, was quick to thank House Appropriations Committee Chairman C.W. Bill Young, who was one of the package's greatest supporters.
