Dennis Petroskey - Senior Vice President, Communications
Dennis Petroskey is Senior Vice President of Communications for the Travel Industry Association of America, which represents 2,000 members and serves as the national umbrella organization speaking for all segments of the $740 billion U.S. travel and tourism industry in promoting and facilitating increased travel to and within the United States. Petroskey coordinates all internal and external communications for TIA.
Petroskey joined TIA in May 2005 after a communications career spent mostly in politics, government, and the entertainment industry. After working as a news reporter for the Falmouth Enterprise on Cape Cod, he served four years as a press secretary on Capitol Hill for Congressman James Dunn of Michigan and Congresswoman Nancy Johnson of Connecticut. He then was the head of communications for the Michigan Republican Party before moving to Los Angeles, where he was Vice President of Corporate Communications for Fox Inc., which included Twentieth Century Fox, the Fox television network, Fox Television Stations Inc., Twentieth Century Fox Television and the FX cable network.
Petroskey moved to New York to serve as Vice President of Corporate Communications for BMG Entertainment, the music company with operations in more than 50 countries and whose stable of artists included Whitney Houston, Dave Matthews Band, Britney Spears, and Elvis Presley. Prior to joining TIA, Petroskey served as a Senior Advisor to U.S. Energy Secretary Spencer Abraham in Washington.
A graduate of Michigan State University, Petroskey's other interests and activities have included serving as a Big Brother while living in Los Angeles, and co-founding the Mayo Smith Society, a national charitable organization of Detroit Tigers baseball fans. Petroskey has also written several screenplays, including Fiddle With Danger, Spring Training, and Sparring Partners.
A native of Michigan, he resides in Virginia with his wife, Anne, and their four daughters.
