State Tourism of the Year Award

The mission of the NCSTD is to leverage the collective strength of state tourism offices to influence public policy, and to provide leadership and the forum for information sharing and education on issues impacting tourism.     _______________________________________

The NCSTD developed the State Tourism Director of the Year Award to honor a tourism director that has clearly influenced the obvious and measurable improvement of a state or territory's "travel and tourism profile" with their leadership. Each year, such success is measured in relationship to the amount of money and staff that the director has at his/her disposal. Candidates are nominated by other state/territory tourism directors and a slate of three finalists is presented for selection by ballot.

The nomination process will open in February 2009. Review the nominating guidelines to help prepare your 2009 submissions.

State Tourism Director of the Year recipient will be announced and recognized at a special ceremony during the annual awards banquet held at ESTO 2009.

Congratulations to the
2008 State Tourism Director of the Year, Margie Emmermann, Arizona Office of Tourism
